2013Folie et politique
The theatre of Falk Richter questions what is at stake in our neoliberal societies—namely the new technologies and the discourse of efficiency that have infiltrated every area of life. Reality, fiction, and the virtual tend to blur together in Electronic City, Sous la glace, État d’urgence, Jeunesse blessée, and Dérangement. At the heart of these plays from the 2000s lie both madness and the political, understood as a questioning and critique of the current system. Richter portrays this system as cold and conducive to wandering and depersonalization. It is madness, a “catastrophe immanent to the system,” that reminds us of the necessity of a breach to make room for a singular voice, for subjectivity.
