Suddenly, images of the enemy that were thought to have been overcome return to the consciousness. This is where Falk Richter’s scandalous play FEAR comes in and holds up a mirror to society.

In his current plays, Richter searches for answers to the pressing questions of our time: What are the possibilities of theatre today – to what extent are artists victims of censorship and self-censorship? Is Europe still a safe place in view of the current challenges? And is the open society viable? How dangerous is the turn towards the nationalistic? This volume brings together the five latest pieces by Falk Richter, which develop their very own, unmistakable sound.
