Falk Richter is one of the most successful German playwrights and theatre directors. In his highly topical plays, he captures the underlying tensions of contemporary life, deconstructs the language of business, politics, and society, dissects and rearranges narrative threads and character sketches to create fantastical, musically condensed loops of language.

TRUST, his most recent project, developed in collaboration with choreographer and dancer Anouk van Dijk, premiered to great acclaim at Berlin’s Schaubühne in October 2009. The piece explores the relationship between systems and trust, examining the mechanisms and interconnections of financial and private relationship structures against the backdrop of current crises and the radical individualization of modern humans.

This book brings together the textual material from TRUST and, through accompanying essays, offers a unique insight into Falk Richter’s distinctive working methods.
