1990The Marksman

The young huntsman Max can only win his beloved Agathe by succeeding in a trial shooting contest. Persuaded by his friend Kaspar, he agrees to cast magic bullets — “six of which never miss, but the seventh belongs to the devil.” (Carl Maria von Weber)

Commissioned by the Salzburg Festival, Falk Richter creates a new version of the libretto and stages Weber’s opera with great intensity, featuring stage design by Katrin Hoffmann, video by Chris Kondek, and choreography by Simone Aughterlony. The role of Samiel is played by Ignaz Kirchner.
