The open station of a psychiatric clinic, a collecting area for people who have been washed up out of the social market economy and are evidently in no rush to return there. Each one of them revolves introvertedly around themselves, peripheral figures of the “new middle”, who have retreated to a “safe space”. However, even in here the community is marked by egocentric interests and hierarchical rules, frustration and aggression are vented on the weakest, and death is oppressively real. Falk Richter directs Noren’s play at Schauspielhaus Zürich as a nightmarishly incisive real time performance.
