PEACE

PREMIERE 13/06/2000
Schaubühne Berlin

4 a.m. An everyday crisis in the fridge in the corridor apartment. Laura, the head of the agency, is looking for the photo of the frozen new-borns, photographer Stefan has no idea where his next assignment is and which of his wives he’s supposed to see tonight. Wolfgang, a journalist, tries to help artist Marco out of a creative crisis. Julia has already got a new subject for after the war. Tim can’t find his recharger any more and goes crazy, Tom just wants to chill out in peace and Marc needs some meaning and an assignment in his new life. And whether it was right to fight this war is something nobody knows – what really happened there and which of the pictures are genuine and which are lies, who is actually in the right and what should actually be done – but they need to find a sponsor for the spring rave because we’ve got to carry on, even if we‘ve long forgotten why and in which direction.

The comedy of Falk Richter‘s farce is directed not only at the media and the cultural world but at a generation entirely out of its depth in its political and professional dealings with the crises and wars of its time from Kosovo to the Love Parade, and simply wishes it was back at Woodstock: love and PEACE.
